个人简介
王晓东博士1963年出生于中国武汉,1984年毕业于北京师范大学,1991年获美国得克萨斯州西南医学中心生物化学博士。现为北京生命科学研究所资深研究员,所长。
自1995年以来,王晓东博士主要致力于人体细胞凋亡的研究,凋亡是细胞的一种特殊生理功能,对人体正常发育和清除损伤细胞起着至关重要的作用。凋亡的缺陷是肿瘤发生的关键步骤。在过去的十几年中,王晓东博士领导的实验室发现了细胞凋亡的生化通路与其作用机理。根据这些研究成果,王晓东博士还研发出针对肿瘤细胞凋亡的新型实验性肿瘤治疗药物。王晓东博士2004年被评为美国科学院院士,2013年入选中国科学院外籍院士,2014年入选欧洲分子生物学组织(EMBO)外籍会员,并获得多项国际生物研究奖,其中包括2006年的“邵逸夫生命科学与医学奖”。
